Event Details
On a stormy night in 1969, the García brothers Heraclio (bass and director), Jesús “Chuy” (vocals and accordion), Francisco (sixth bass) and José Guadalupe García Ruvalcaba (vocals, accordion and saxophone), who were born in Yahualica, Jalisco, and grew up in Tangancicuaro, Michoacán decided to form a musical group when they arrived as immigrants to the United States as teenagers, where they worked in the fields of San Jose, California and their main focus was to bring joy to their peers.
Originally calling themselves “Los Cuatro del Norte,” the band changed their name to “Los Huracanes del Norte” in 1972. Since then Los Huracanes del Norte have made history as a celebrated norteño band that has become a mainstay of regional Mexican music.
In 2002, the new generation joined the band, including Antonio Heraclio Garcia “El Guero” (drums), Jose Luis Mejia “El Chapete” (vocals and accordion) and Rocky Junior (vocals and second bajo sexto). Together, they have continued the band's legacy, including numerous recognitions and awards.
The band has been honored with 20+ RIAA certified gold and platinum records, two prestigious “El Heraldo de Mexico” awards, and keys to the cities of Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles, Chicago and Obregon, Sonora, Mexico. They have also received five American and Latin Grammy nominations, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the
prestigious Monitor Latino magazine, La Voz Awards from Billboard magazine and Bandamax Awards for their contributions to Regional Mexican music.
To date, he has more than 20 albums in the top 10 of Billboard's Regional Mexican Albums chart, including two at number 1 (Norteño 2000 and En Que Trabaja El Muchacho). The ensuing years have been of growth and adaptation, reaching global levels with a solid presence in social networks and streaming platforms, with 3.44 million monthly listeners on Spotify and more than 4.6 million followers in various social networks.
