Residente Announces His Official Tour “Las Letras Ya No Importan” Kicking Off In September 2024

Today, René Pérez Joglar, known as Residente, an award-winning, Latin rapper, composer, producer, filmmaker, visionary, activist, and actor, announces his official tour called “Las Letras Ya No Importan” (Lyrics Are Not Important) after the release of his second album. The tour is named just like the album, which features 23 tracks, which include artists such as Penélope Cruz, Ricky Martin, Busta Rhymes, Vico C, Big Daddy Kane, Rauw Alejandro, Christian Nodal, Arcangel, Jessie Reyez, Silvia Pérez Cruz, Ibeyi, WOS, Nino Freestyle, Amal Murkus, SFDK and AI2 El Aldeano.

Residente’s tour is his first official tour in the last seven years and will stop at YouTube Theater at Hollywood Park on Friday, September 20. Tickets on sale Friday, March 15 at 10am via Ticketmaster.com.

Recently, “Las Letras Ya No Importan” (Lyrics Are Not Important) went gold in Mexico. In addition, the album debuted at number two on the Spotify list of “Top Albums Debut Global” with its release.

The album includes some of his recent music video releases throughout a year that include, “This Is Not America,” (an award-winning video), “Rene,” “Quire Ser Baladista featuring Ricky Martin, “Problema Cabron” featuring WOS, “Ron En El Piso” and his most recent this week, “313” featuring Penélope Cruz and Silvia Pérez Cruz. “313” was an homage to time in the memory of Valentina, a close friend who passed away. She worked closely with him and was a violin player. In recent teaser, he leaves her a voice message and talks about the significance of the number 313. He begins the album with a tribute called “Valentina.”

All music videos released for part of this album were directed by Residente.

 
The cover art of the album features Residente’s hand, barely reaching a six-fingered hand, implying a contrast between meaningful crafted art versus the current algorithmically-driven culture and raising the question of whether its output is important anymore to the audience. Residente’s first solo album was released in 2017 and was called “Residente,” it received recognition all around the world, and obtained multiple awards.
